Where do you feel the most inspired?

I get inspired everywhere, but I find the most inspiration when watching cartoons.

Tell us a little about your creative process.

I pull inspiration from all over and jot down my idea in a Google Doc to discuss with my best friend and editor. Then I sketch out some thumbnail doodles with pen and paper and take those sketches into the computer.

What kind of projects are you working on right now? Or what are some of your ideas for future projects?

As always I update my Silent Sillies web comic every week — currently on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. I have a lot of ideas for projects, but mostly my mind is stuck on an idea for a super-heroine duck.

Who’s your favorite current artist? (aka social media artist)

I befriended, on Twitter, a Star Wars artist and Disney cartoonists Jamie Cosley, who makes great comic strips/books and children’s books. Then across the pond is Andrew Morrice and his wife Haley Russel from Granitoons that makes some great wise cracking comics on DeviantArt and Tapas (formerly Tapastic).

If you could have dinner with any artist dead or alive who would it be?

The late comic book artist, Mike Wieringo and the Mickey Mouse cartoonist, Floyd Gottfredson

What advice would you give to an artist who wants to be just like you?

You don’t want to be me. I’m too stressed.

If you could go back and give advice to your younger self something about your art what would it be?

Relax and never stop creating.

What’s your favorite supplies or “have to have” product/equipment that makes your process better?

Good old pencil and paper.

What’s your favorite music to put on while creating?

I like a variety of music, ranging from movie soundtracks, 90s alternative, swing, ska, and christian hard rock. Basically nothing I can find on the radio.

What’s your favorite film/tv show that you think everyone should see?

Batman the Animated Series, Indiana Jones, and anything Star Wars.

What’s a subject that you know a surprising amount of?

Animation history

What’s your favorite way of treating yourself after tackling a project?

I’m not sure I do really. Maybe go out for Chinese food.

How do you want to challenge yourself artistically in the future?

Making daily updates to my comic would be nice, and moving away from the more cartoon look would be great. I suppose I need to be more like a Jedi and learn more patience.
