Nature Printed Plate Workshop with Julie Zetina

Date and Time: Thursday, April 4 &  April 18, 6-8 p.m.

Location: SMAC Art Center, 7 Downing Street, Hollister, MO 65672

Experience level: Beginner to Advanced. Open to ages 10-adult. (Children 9 and under may take the workshop if accompanied by an adult.)

Fee: $45 per person (Hollister residents $22.50)

Did you ever want to dabble in ceramics? Well then, this Nature Print Ceramic Plate Workshop with Julie Zetina was created just for you. On the first night, Thursday, April 4, 6-8 p.m., art instructor Julie Zetina will take you step-by-step into how to create a functional, one-of-kind ceramic plate. She will provide everything you need for this class, including a selection of plant materials that you may use to “print” into the clay to create a nature design. If you have leftover clay, you may make an additional ceramic piece, if you like. All work will remain at SMAC to dry, and then Julie will take the pieces off-site to bisque fire in her kiln.

On the second night, Thursday, April 18, 6-8 p.m., Julie will demonstrate different glazes that you can apply to get the right look for you. Once the trays are glazed, Julie will take them to be fired again. Pick up will be Thursday, April 7, 6-7 p.m. All materials, instruction, firings, and transportation to and from the kiln are included in the workshop fee of $45. (Thanks to a generous grant from the City of Hollister Parks and Recreation Department, Hollister residents only pay $22.50)  Class size is limited to 12, so sign up early.
